Robert L. Slater age 78, of 2045 Locust, Apt. 1, died April 12, 2011, at 2:45 AM in his home.
Robert was born May 18, 1932 in LaGrange, Missouri, the son of Carl L. and Ruth Butler Slater.
Bob served in the U.S. Army in 1953. He was a pin setter for a number of area bowling alleys and worked for 50 years at the Tangerine Bowl. He had also been the custodian at Luther Memorial Church. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: 4 brothers, Carl A. Slater of Kirksville, MO, Charles LeRoy (Princess) Slater of Shepherdville, KY, John Slater and Larry Slater both of Quincy: a sister, Donna (Martin) McCarty of Dunlap, IL: and a special niece who helped take care of him, Debra (Ronald) Stanley of Quincy. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Darlene Decker, Helen Harsell, and Betty Jean Slater, and a brother, Donald Slater.
Services: 3:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Scott Mikkelson officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 5-7 PM, Thursday April 14, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
