John C. Kenning

John C. Kenning, age 80, of Quincy, died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 4:45 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born October 25, 1930 in Quincy, the son of Frank G. and Marina Young Kenning. On June 24, 1954 he married the love of his life Anna Marie Chappell at St. Mary Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives.

John was a 1948 graduate of Quincy High School. He was in the Army from the fall of 1951 until July of 1953.

John owned and operated Kenning's Market. He retired from Niemann's Foods after 37 years. John was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, AARP, the VFW and American Legion Post 129. He was a great hunter and outdoorsman and loved to go fishing in Canada.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Robert J. (Jeri) Kenning of Evansville, Indiana; 4 grandchildren,

Kelli (Joe) Day, Evanville, IN, David (Emily) Kenning, Middletown, CT, Justin Kenning, No. Madison, CT,

John Michael Kenning, Ashburn, VA; two great grandchildren, Connor Joseph Day and Hope Elizabeth Kenning; a brother, Paul (Mary Jane) Kenning of Quincy; and several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews & numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Delores Woody and Marjorie Boessing, and a son David F. Kenning.

Services: Wednesday, July 20, 2011 - Prayers at 9:30 am in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
