In Loving Memory of Sharon Kay Edwards
Sharon Kay Edwards passed away October 29, 2018. She was born December 10, 1939 in Des Moines and was raised in the Casey area where she met her husband, Gary Edwards. Sharon and Gary were married on July 27, 1957. From this union, three sons were born- Bret, Brian and Brad. Sharon took a job with Northwestern Bell right out of high school and worked there until she retired in 1990. From then on, she spent much of her time traveling with Gary, volunteering at the church, watching HGTV, reading romance novels and gardening.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bret and his wife, Lisa, have two daughters- Abbie and Kayci, and a granddaughter, Mya. Brian and his late wife, Diana (RIP), also have two daughters- Rhiannon and Keely. Brad and his wife, Alicia, have a son, Christopher, Katie (daughter-in-law), and a granddaughter, Clare (just born Oct. 27, 2018); a daughter, Alyssa and Drew (son-in-law); and a son, Connor.
Sharon was a truly positive person. She loved her family, her church and her flowers. She would always take in stressed plants like they were orphans to bring them back to health. In many ways, she did this with her friends and family too. She was a caring and giving soul whose light shined in all situations. She had many friends and no enemies, but one- multiple myeloma cancer. Throughout her life and to her very end, her heart was full of love for others, unending faith in God and an unwavering courage to face death. She will always be loved and most certainly missed by all that knew her.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, November 10, 2018 starting at 9 AM followed by a Mass at 10 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Adel, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to St. John' Catholic Church.

Tributes

Kristin Usherwood wrote on Nov 5, 2018:

"I loved Sharon like she was my own mother. Every time she?d see me she?d cradle my cheeks with her soft hands, look into my eyes, ask how I was doing and then I got a big hug. I always felt that her and Gary were an extension of my family as our families spent so much time together. I know Sharon is out of pain and basking in the Lord?s glory in Heaven. To Gary and the boys-my prayers are with you and I love you all. Kristin Usherwood (Jurgensen)"

"Sharon Edwards was truly one of God's Angels on earth. I can think of no one more kind and loving than Sharon. Her family was so gifted to have her for their mother and wife. She spread love among anyone who knew her. Paul Major and I spent hours playing pitch with her and Gary. I feel truly honored to know her and to have her for a friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to Gary and sons, Bret, Brian and Brad. Love, Jan (Major) Murphy"
