A private family gathering was held on Friday, April 6th, 2018 to celebrate the life of Chris Duckworth.
Christenia A. Duckworth (81) of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Mercy Hospice Inpatient Facility in Johnston, Iowa after a short fight with lung cancer. Chris will join her husband, Ron, at their resting place at the Iowa Veteran Cemetery in Adel, Iowa at a later date.
Chris was born on March 19, 1937 in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was the daughter of Wesley and Virginia (Bagley) Mace Norstrum. She enjoyed spending time in West Virginia, painting, cooking, being outdoors, and visiting with family and friends. Chris worked with her mother at the Big M Caf in Des Moines for years and later opened and ran Chriss Caf until she retired.
She is survived by her son, Chad (Patty) Duckworth of Greene, IA; daughters Virginia Simon of Bainbridge Island, WA; Deena Ostoich of San Pedro, CA; and Tracy Bennett of Bend, OR. She is also survived by grandchildren, Gian and Cameron Duckworth, Kayley Duckworth, Philip Wasson; step-grandchildren Drew (Ashley) Murray and Dustin Murray; great granddaughter Harper; and sister, Sandra Maberry as well as many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Duckworth; daughter, Mindi Duckworth; son, Todd Duckworth, and her parents.
