"My deepest sympathy to Phyllis's children and family. I was so excited that she was going to move to Maquoketa when she retired from the Florist and sold her home. I called her at the last class reunion so she could talk to some of her classmates which she really enjoyed. We never know what life has in store for us, but she is in heaven with her sister, mom and dad. May you rest in peace dear friend. Linda Andersen"

Aunt Elaine Rittmer wrote on Oct 3, 2016:

"I will miss Phyllis so very much. We talked on the phone quite often as she updated me on how the genealogy project of her mothers family was nearly complete. She was a very talented lady and you were a lucky person if you ever received one of her gifts. She kept very close to her Mother's family and we were always glad to see and hear from her. She was 9 when her Mother died. She and Sheryl somehow survived their grief through the support of classmates, family and friends. She was a strong person to the end of her glorious life. My condolences to her children and grandchildren and to Ron King who was the rock in her life. Aunt Elaine Rittmer"

"I remember being able to stay ay Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Ron's house in the summer one year. I thought I was so special. I played with the neighbor across the street and she took me to the pool. That was so cool because I lived out in the country with no access to a pool. It gave me a glimpse of city life. I cherish that time spent there. Love to your family! Terri Ehlinger"

"My sympathy to all of Phyllis King's family. Phyllis and I were high school classmates. I remember staying overnight with Phyllis on several occasions. One particular evening I was sleeping over after a school event. Phyllis was not at that event but was waiting up for me. She had spent the night sewing some beautiful new creation. She was a girl of many talents. I appreciated Phyllis's friendship very much."

"Loved seeing this fairly recent photo of Phyllis---as pretty as ever! Can't remember if she came for any of the class reunions, but then MY memory isn't that great after 50 yrs! I remember that she lived very close to the Yocum's and was so sad when her Mother died; maybe the first death of a parent and many of our classmates attended the funeral. Am sorry I wasn't more persistent at getting in touch with her these last years!"
