Julia Ligouri, 101 of Des Moines passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines. A private Mass will be held at a later date.
Julia was born in Des Moines to Gennaro and Mary (Leo) Ligouri. She attended school in Des Moines. She was an extremely hard worker and worked as a mail sorter for Look Magazine and CDS until she was in her 80s. Julia loved her family and was her Mothers care taker until she passed away. She was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Des Moines, and the American Legion Post 659 in Des Moines. Both organizations were a big part of her life.
Those left to cherish Julias fond memories are her brother, Tony Ligouri; sister Anne Wilson; nieces and nephews, Bob, Tom, Ann, Gennaro, Louie, Craig, Lisa, Cindy, John, and Mary Jo; great-nephews, Peter; and great-niece Kristin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John, Louie, and Tom; and sisters, Ang, and Rosie.
Memorial contributions may be directed to American Legion Post 659 in Julias memory.
Celebrate Life Iowa has been entrusted with the cremation care of Julia.
