"So it might be a little late but I was deeply impacted by this loss. Sgt Zach Sagers was undoubtedly one of the best soldiers we had. We have lost a true individual here and a lot of times I find it very surreal. One thing I remember him teaching me was a simple "cover your buddy" drill. It involved giving yourself two seconds to look out and see whats going on around you while moving in a squad element. There is one thing for certain, we lost a great soldier and man. I can only send my condolences and prayers for the family. Till Valhalla brother."

"Deanna and Scott, we loved Zach like a grandson. Even though we did only knew him for a few years, he earned a special place in our hearts. We could not have loved him more. He presented me with a necklace at Christmas last year. There is no amount of money that could purchase it. It will go to my grave with me. You have our love and prayers.
