Edna D. Blankschein age 92 of Maquoketa Iowa died on Monday morning March 142005.0 at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday March 192005.0 from the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa with Rev. Gerald Gjerde officiating. The family will greet and receive friends from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. Service Time on Saturday March 192005.0 from the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa Iowa. Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine for scientific research. Burial will be at a later date. The Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of arrangements.
Edna D. Troy was born on November 9 1912 in LaPorte Indiana to Harry Troy and Anna (Scheef) Troy. She was a 1930 graduate of Union Township High School in Indiana. She married Howard C. Blankschein on May 1 1937 in LaPorte Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 2 2000.
Edna had first worked as a nursing assistant in the medical office of Dr. S.P. Morgan in LaPorte Indiana for several years. She then did alterations for a ladies clothing store and made furniture slip covers while living in LaPorte Indiana.
Edna was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa and the First Lutheran Women's Group. She enjoyed sewing knitting and spending time with her family.
Edna is survived by: children- Mary Ann (Mrs. Ron) Neblung of Clinton IA & Karen (Mrs. Roger) Hansen of Maquoketa IA; 8 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren; & 1 sister- Stella Sleight of Walnut IL. She was preceded in death by her parents & her husband.
An Edna D. Blankschein Memorial Fund has been established.
