Ruby Macumber
February 26, 1922 - February 9, 2011

Ruby Arlene Macumber was born on February 26, 1922, at Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Mathew and Beatrice (Kelso) Murtha. She graduated from St. Cecelia's Academy in 1939, and began working at Lusby & Giossi Drug and Jewelry in Algona. She later worked for Sharp's Jewelry as a sales clerk.

On June 30, 1967, Ruby was united in marriage to Clarence Macumber in Algona. Ruby enjoyed fishing, square dancing, gardening and her flowers. She was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of Business and Professional Women.

Ruby became a resident of Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona in October 2005, and died there on Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 2011, at the age of 88.

Survivors include her sister Mary Jo Zumach of Algona; nephew David Zumach, his wife Tami of Ankeny, Iowa, and his children, Emily, Jolene, Dillon and Elly; and nephew, Michael Zumach and wife Patricia of Naperville, Illinois, and their children, Gregory and Katherine. "Dave and Mike, sorry to hear of Ruby's passing. I was neighbor to her and Clarence in the late 70's and 80's. When they went on fishing trips I was one of the cat sitters, they had several sitters so the cats would not be neglected! Ruby worked hard in her yard and was a good neighbor."
