John William McGregor was born February 13th 1964 at St. Ann's Hospital in Algona, Iowa. He was the son of Betty McGregor Valetti and Duane F. McGregor. John attended St. John's Catholic School in Bancroft graduating in 1983.

John married Karen J. McClellan on September 28th, 1985 at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Algona. John and Karen adopted their son Alex J. in 1998. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan. John loved spending time with his son Alex and his family. Throughout the years, John worked at various jobs.

John W. McGregor died Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge at the age of 44.

John is survived by his wife Karen J. and his son Alex of LuVerne; his parents, Duane F. 'Mac' and Marian of Algona; his father-in-law Jack McClellan of LuVerne; his brothers and sisters, Duane E. 'Yogi' (Karen) McGregor of Algona, Bob McGregor of LuVerne, Tom (Angie) McGregor of Wesley, Sue McGregor (Gary Hetland) of Lakota, Mike (Melinda) McGregor of Algona, Ramon (Sarah) Valetti of Algona, Louie Valetti (friend Marcy Meyer) of LuVerne, Theresa Bryant (Mike Trimble) of Spencer, IN, Mary Mobley (Tom) of Spencer, IN, and Veronica Valetti of Spencer, IN. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Pam Bormann of Humboldt; a brother-in-law Craig (Kathie) McClellan of LuVerne; and countless nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Valetti; his step-father Raymond Montoya; his sister Donna Jean McGregor; his grandparents Leona and Francis McGregor, Mary and Charlie Schaeffer and Louie Hill; his mother-in-law Darlene McClellan; and many other special family members.
