Ivadelle Lavonne Simmons was born on August 3, 1928, at Armstrong, Iowa, to Nels J. and Cleo B. Phillips Anderson. She received her education at Armstrong. Ivy was married to Carl (Bud) Simmons on April 6, 1947, at Armstrong. Besides a few years spent in California, Minnesota, Texas, Armstrong and Ringsted, most of their lives were spent in the Burt, Iowa area.

Ivy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burt, where she was active in the U.M.W, and had taught Sunday School and had assisted with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed watching all sports on TV, watching Dancing With The Stars and visiting with her many friends over coffee. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter and she loved watching them participate in all of their activities.

Ivy died on Friday, December 14, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa. She was 79.

Ivy is survived by her children, Becky Simmons and her fiancé, Mitch Rider, Burt, Iowa and Bob Simmons and his fiancé, Denise Shipler, also of Burt, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amanda Bauman, Lindsay Simmons, Delane Pederson, her great granddaughter, Amiyah Bauman. She is also survived by her mother, Cleo B. Anderson, Estherville, Iowa, her brother, George Anderson and wife, Kathleen, Estherville, Iowa and her sisters, Charyle Nelson, Estherville, Iowa and Shirley Arneson and husband, Bill, Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Ivy was preceded in death by her father and her husband, Bud.

Tributes
