Carol Margaret Tietz was born on December 6, 1944, at Fenton, Iowa, to Kenneth and Hilda Wichtendahl Bollinger. She attended the Immanuel Lutheran School at Lotts Creek, Iowa and graduated from Sentral High School in Fenton in 1962. Carol attended the Personal Training Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. She then worked for Look Magazine in Des Moines, Iowa from 1962-March, 1964. On April 4, 1964, Carol was married to Gene Tietz at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lotts Creek. The couple lived near Lone Rock, Iowa. To this union, one son, Michael Douglas Tietz was born on April 3, 1965.

Carol moved to Algona, where she worked at Directory Service Co. from 1967-1974. She then worked for Brougham Industries from 1974-1979 and her last job was working for Casey's General Store in Algona from 1980-1992.

Carol became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona in 1970. She enjoyed gardening and crafts, and automobile racing, but her greatest joy in life was watching her grandchildren participate in all of their activities.

Carol died on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. She was 61.

Surviving are her son, Mike Tietz and wife, Ronda, Algona and her grandchildren, Michelle, Megan, Melissa and Kenneth Tietz. She is also survived by her brother, Norman Bollinger, Fenton, Iowa. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
