Robert Gail Hamilton

Robert Gail Hamilton was born on April 23, 1929, at Beardstown, Illinois to Melvin and Dovie Wilson Hamilton. He received his education at Beardstown. After his schooling, Bob worked on the barges on the Mississippi River. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Bob was married to Lorraine Lentsch on July 2, 1955, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyar, Iowa. The couple lived in Ledyard, where Bob worked at the Farmer's Coop Elevator until his retirement.

Bob was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard. He also belonged to the Matzener-Estle American Legion Post #675 in Ledyard. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodcarving but his greatest joy in life was his family.

Bob died on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at the Fairmont Community Hospital in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was 77.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lorraine and his children, Robert Hamilton, Jr. and wife, Jodi, and Donna Hamilton, all of Ledyard, Iowa. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Amber, Jerica, Shelby and Nick Hamilton, Melissa Green and husband, Phil, Melissa McColley and husband, Nick and Christy and Jeremy Smith. Bob is also survived by his brother, Jack Hamilton, Beardstown, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 daughters and son-in-law, Dianne Mathisen and husband Tracy and Debra Smith and 2 sisters, Betty Hankins and Rosemary Hamilton.
