Lucille Blanchard-Steven

Francis Lucille Blanchard-Steven was born November 24, 1911 in Dakota City, daughter of Delbert and Rosa (Reynolds) Newbrough. At an early age, Lucille's family moved to Lone Rock and she graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1930. She was united in marriage to Edward Blanchard on June 4, 1930 at Nashua.

Lucille worked at the Lone Rock Telephone Company and then owned and operated the Lone Rock Café. She later worked as a nurse's aide at the Heritage Nursing Home in Bancroft. Edward preceded her in death on May 5, 1973. Lucille married J P Steven on April 24, 1974 in Lone Rock. They enjoyed traveling together and wintering in Arizona. Lucille loved her family and was an avid baseball fan especially for the New York Yankees. J P preceded her in death on March 19, 1999.

F. Lucille Steven died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at the Kossuth Regional Healthcare Center, Algona at the age of 94.

She is survived by one son, Harold Blanchard and his wife Jane of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by step-children, Donald Steven and his wife Florence of Niles, MI, James Steven and his wife Ethel of Iona, Kenneth Steven of Dayton, TN, Milton Steven and his wife Doris of Athens, TN, Bernadine Opheim of Burt, and Jean Long and her husband Daniel of Burt; 27 step-grandchildren; 50 step-great-grandchildren; and many step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Edward Blanchard and J P Steven; a son, Delbert Blanchard; two sons in infancy; a great-grandson, Ross Gene Blanchard; a sister, Grace Mueller; and two brothers, Lawrence and John Newbrough.
