Albert "Bo" Sleper

Albert Erwin "Bo" Sleper was born on January 25, 1916, near Titonka, Iowa to John A. and Maggie Heitland Sleper. He received his education at Titonka. After his schooling, Bo helped his parents on the farm. He was married to Jennie M. Rippentrop on March 31, 1943 at the Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka. The couple started farming at Buffalo Center, Iowa and then farmed near Lakota, Iowa for 20 years. They moved to a farm northwest of Titonka in 1968 and farmed there until 1980, when they retired and moved into Titonka. During his farming career and after retiring, Bo also sold Pioneer Seed.

Bo was an active member of the Ramsey Reformed Church. He had served on the Consistory for many years. He also belonged to the Gideons International. While living near Lakota, Bo had served on the Lakota School Board. Bo enjoyed golf and he loved socializing and playing games with his many friends and family. As a young man, Bo enjoyed pitching horseshoes and playing baseball. His greatest enjoyment was being with his family and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

Bo died on Friday, February 24, 2006, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. He was 90.

Bo is survived by his children, David Sleper and wife, Elaine, Columbia, Missouri, Sherman Sleper and wife, Dawn, Omaha, Nebraska, Rhonda Ostercamp and husband, Mike, Britt, Iowa, Jane Peterson, Crystal Lake, Iowa and Alberta (Bertie) Nedved and husband, Dave, Garner, Iowa. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, Benjamin and Sydney Sleper, Keanna Peterson, Abby and Lucy Hurtado and Samuel Nichol. Bo is also survived by his sister, Harriet Rippentrop, Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jennie in 1995, his daughter, Jean Sleper, his brother, Hank Sleper and 3 sisters, Gertrude Buffington, Grace Neeland and Alma Tjaden.
