Kathryn "Kay" Von Bank

Kathryn Joan Von Bank was born April 26, 1937, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Madgel Graham Judge. She grew up in Napier, Iowa, where she attended school and in 1955 graduated from Napier High School. Kay went on to attend Ottumwa Heights for two years before she moved to Minneapolis to begin teaching.

On July 16, 1966, Kathryn was united in marriage to Robert Von Bank in Boone, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in Humboldt where Kay continued to teach until 1967. In 1972, Kay and Bob moved to Pocahontas before moving to Algona in 1981.

Kay enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan. She also enjoyed fishing, playing the piano, reading, working crossword puzzles and visiting the casino. She was a member of St. Cecelia Parish.

Kathryn died on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa, at the age of 68.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Algona, Iowa; daughters, Barbara Struecker of Algona, Iowa; Christine and husband William Day of Storm Lake, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Bruce Struecker, Aaron Struecker, Jacob Busch, Samuel Struecker, Maddisen Busch, Melinda Busch, Julianne Struecker and Johnna Day. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Karen and Gerald Anderson of Boone, Iowa; Bernard and Rhonda Judge of Casper, Wyoming; John Judge of Boone, Iowa; Kathleen and Philip Kohler of Ankeny, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Joanna Von Bank.
