Dorothy E. Lampe

Dorothy Eleanor Lampe was born in rural Corwith, Iowa to Chris and Katie Rinkenberger Alt on April 21, 1921. She graduated from Algona High School in 1938. Dorothy attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa and went to work at Welp's Hatchery, where she met Harold Lampe. They were married on August 26, 1941. Harold and Dorothy enjoyed dancing, their children and, in later years, traveling to see the kids and grandkids. Dorothy loved crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together and playing cards. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing sports and Phil's dog, Reggie! Dorothy was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft.
Dorothy passed away on Monday, December 26, 2005 at the Heritage Home in Bancroft. She was 84.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Harold of Burt, Iowa, and her children, Janet (Duane) Smith, Des Moines, IA, Mary Jane (Joe) Boies of Santa Fe, NM, Tom (Dorothy) Lampe , Cumming, IA, Patty (Tom) Aures, Dardanella, AR, Betty Harrison and friend, Truman Berthusem, Sioux City, IA, Sharon (Ernie) Reiter, Page, AZ, Rose (Bernie) Brandenburg, Ash Flat, AR, Sue (Larry) Leach, Armstrong, IA, Mike (Cathy) Lampe, Yukon, OK, Phil (Aud) Lampe, Burt, IA and Vivian (Mark) Payne, Monument, CO. She is also survived by 41 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Minnie Speth, Windom, MN, Pearl Gerber, West Bend, IA, Ruby Jentz, Fenton, IA and 2 sisters-in-law, Edna Alt, Algona, IA and Irene Zumach, Fenton, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James, Harry, Larry, and Melvin and sisters, Esther and Evelyn.
