Gladys C. Zohbon

Gladys Caroline Zohbon was born November 27, 1916 at Ringsted, Iowa to Victor and Margaret (Schnoor) Sorensen. Gladys graduated from Ringsted High School in 1933. Gladys then moved to Des Moines and attended American Institute of Business. She lived in Des Moines for seven years before moving to Osceola to work for Dr. Harkin in the hospital for three years. On September 22, 1944, Gladys was united in marriage to Joe Zohbon in Des Moines. The couple lived in Des Moines until moving to a farm southwest of Whittemore in 1951. Gladys became a resident of the West Bend Care Center in November, 2004, and died there on Tuesday morning, December 20, 2005, at the age of 89.
Gladys was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore where she belonged to the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed music, dancing, her garden, sewing and cooking. Her favorite hobby though was fishing in Canada. Gladys was always known for her smile.
Survivors include her husband Joe of Whittemore; son John and wife Candy of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and daughter Nancy and husband Bruce Gibson of Phoenix, Arizona. Also surviving are two grandchildren Peter and wife Shelly Zohbon and Robyn Zohbon, one great grandchild Zane Zohbon and one brother Ray Sorensen of Armstrong, Iowa. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Earl.
