Algona - Arlowe K. Hansen, 81, of Algona, died Sunday at Kossuth Regional Healthcare Center, Algona.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, Algona, with the Reverend Mike Orthel officiating. Burial will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Fenton with military honors conducted by the Fenton American Legion Post # 627.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM today (Tuesday) at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, 218 South Moore Street, Algona, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Arlowe Kenneth Hansen was born November 19, 1923, in Ringsted, Iowa, son of Peter N. and Clara O. (Jacobsen) Hansen. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1943 and farmed with his parents until serving in the Army Air Force from September, 1944 until November, 1945.

Arlowe was united in marriage to LaVonne Robinson on June 6, 1954 in Estherville, Iowa. He farmed in the Fenton area and worked for various businesses. In 1972, he began working for Arts Way Manufacturing in Armstrong retiring in 1986. Arlowe was an avid baseball fan especially for the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed reading and fishing. He and his wife moved to Algona in 1999. Arlowe was a member of the Fenton American Legion Post Ranney Weisbrod # 627; and the Algona United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife LaVonne of Algona; four children, Carol Campe and her husband Ken of Algona, Betty Meyer of Bode, Marvin Hansen and his wife Linda of Fenton, and Marilyn Berte and her husband Dwaine of Algona; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a twin brother, Arnold Hansen and his wife Mary of Fenton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Daryle; a sister Velma Pefferman; and a granddaughter, Angela Rose Myer.
