Algona - Helen Elnora Richardson, 96, of Algona, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Algona Manor.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 29, 2005, at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church, 1923 East McGregor Street, Algona, with the Reverend Kevin Hollinger officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Algona.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Helen E. Richardson was born September 21, 1908, in Burt, Iowa daughter of Clark and Anna Marie (Jepsen) Godden. Helen grew up in Burt and graduated from Burt High School. She then attended Normal Teachers School in Cedar Falls and taught country school until her marriage.

Helen married Paul Leroy Richardson on June 22, 1930, in Burt. She and Paul lived in Algona where she was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church. Helen loved her family especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cross-word puzzles and playing cards.

She is survived by three children, Phyllis Kuhn and her husband William of Algona, David Richardson and his wife Judy of Boone, and James Richardson of Algona; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by five brothers and sisters, Rosella Godden of Algona, Hazel Schiltz of Mankato, MN, Clarence Godden of Corydon, IA, Arlene Troup of Boulder City, NV, and Lester Godden of Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul on March 29, 1992; and two sisters, Mable Strayer and Opal Fisher.
