Graveside services for Rosemary Laing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona, with Reverend Mr. William Black officiating.
Rosemary Laing was born January 28, 1931, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Mary Leinen. She grew up in Portsmouth and attended school in Harlan, graduating from the Harlan High School. After her schooling she began working and later moved to Algona where she worked at the Algona Hotel.
On June 30, 1951, Rosemary was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Laing in Algona. After their marriage they lived in Algona where they raised their family. Rosemary helped Bob in the operation of their plumbing and heating business, which they operated until retiring in 1993.
Rosemary enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family. She also enjoyed reading and fishing. She was a member of St. Cecelia Parish.
Rosemary died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at her home in Algona. She was 85.
She is survived by her children, Tom Laing of Algona; Cindy Laing of Ames; Laura Jones of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren, Kara, Joey and Bobbie Larsen and Scott Laing; great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Long and Annie Kennedy of Harlan; brother, Lawrence Leinen of Omaha, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert "Bob" Laing on October 11, 2011, and son-in-law, David Jones.
