Walter Prigge

LEWISTON, MINN. - Walter A. Prigge, 92, of Lewiston died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at the Lewiston Villa, in Lewiston, Minn. Walter was born on August 23, 1911, in Lincoln, Ill. to William and Lillie (Klein) Prigge. He graduated from High School in Rochester, Minn. On June 6, 1937, Walter married Lucille Steuernagel in Lewiston. Walter worked most of his career in Red Wing, Minn. where he worked in the retail furniture and hardware business. While in Red Wing Walter was a very active member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church, and was currently a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Lewiston. Walter also lived in Readlyn, Iowa. Walter was an active outdoors enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, and bicycling. He is survived by one son: Robert (Wendy) Prigge of Atlantic, Iowa; two grandchildren: Nick and Alexis; three brothers: Arnold and Alvin Prigge of Lewiston, and Allen Prigge of Eugene, Oregon; and one sister: Alice (David) Przestwor. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, Elmer, and two sisters in childhood. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Revs. David A. Fischer and Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday. The family prefers memorials to be directed either St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewiston or St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Hoff Funeral Homes ' Lewiston Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
