"May God comfort you all at this trying time and always. We moved to St. Charles just a year & a half ago. I did get together with Gladys just once since then. It was great to get to know such a wonderful cousin. Wish I could've spent more time with her. We would have been to the funeral, but just got back from Arizona immediately after the funeral. God bless you all."

"I meant Gladys in 1958. We roomed together at the Blue Willow apartment house and both worked at Federated Insurance. Good memories. I don't know Bill or his family but you have my sympathy."

"My sympathy goes to the Anderson family - Gladys fought a big battle with the C-monster. I have good memories of her, working at the newspaper office and at Jan and Tim Macks house that one summer (long ago) and she will always be in my heart as a true friend - time heals all heart aches and this one will come to pass also. You will be truely missed Gladys.

"Gladys's smile beamed and was contagious. Her personality of being upbeat and sincerely caring was genuine. I miss her days working at the Lewiston Journal many years ago, in getting the local scoop and making it friendly, worthy news. I agree that she is known as a person who enjoyed people and has a great degree of courage. We are all better people for having known her. I could see Gladys shine through in her husband Bill, in his prior teaching career and his game of golf. I am sure she is a bigger part of her children than what many realize. Thank you Gladys for sharing, and most importantly celebrating life's journey with us. May God continue to bless you and your family."

"Bill and kids, So sorry to hear of Gladys' passing. A friend in Bethany called this morning to tell us the sad news. I have already heard back from the kids as I emailed them this morning with the obituary from the newspaper in Winona. They all asked to pass on their condolences to your family. I too have a lot of fond memories of Gladys. I think her and Dave struck up a little special friendship when he was in his barbershop in Lewistion and she worked at the journal. I especially have fond memories of the pinochle games and when you guys came through Hawthorne and stopped and visited with us. I wish we could have spent at least a couple of more days visiting with you guys. I can see her face and her smile and I hear her laughing right now. God Bless you all during this very sad time for you."

"It has been a long long time...
My parents, Dave and Gail Geerdes, were good friends of Bill and Gladys. Bill was my sixth grade teacher and my siblings and I were friends with their children.
When I think of Bill and Gladys together... I see smiles and of course, a deck of cards... Such, Such good hearted people. Gladys, so bubbly, cute, sweet and on the go...
Although many years have past since we have seen you, you are in our thoughts and in our prayers. I know this feeling extends from my entire family as well.
God Bless and take care,
Denise Brewton-Geerdes"

"I would like to share a memory of Gladys. I hope this note isn't too long.
My memory of Gladys goes back to April 1960. Gladys and I met at Federated Insurance in Owatonna and worked together. We, along with two other girls, took what was my first big trip, together in Glady's 1957 blue Plymouth, to Long Beach, California. We went to get a friend of Gladys's (Darlene Flicek) who was out there and she returned home to Minnesota with us. I don't remember how long Gladys and I worked together at Federated, but we visited each other's homes many time.
Then losing track of each other as we went our own ways, what a surprise when in probably the 1970s or 1980s, in a conversation with a friend/neighbor of mine, we found out that Gladys had married a friend and neighbors of theirs by the name of Bill Anderson. Our mutual friend is Jean and Glen Rechtzigel. I visited with Jean today after reading of Gladys' death in the Faribault paper. Neither of us can remember how we became aware of each other knowing Gladys. Jean brought me up to date on Gladys over the last years and what a trooper she has been in her battle. I lost my husband one year ago after his battle with cancer for many years too. Glen and Jean purchased my husband's home farm, which is next door to their home place.
I have old pictures of Gladys from that trip 45 years ago if you'd care to see or have any. Maybe Gladys has a scrapbook with the same pictures.
I regret not having looked up Gladys and re-lived that trip with her. We had a great time and good memories.
Treasure all your memories. Avis Turner Overboe, Kenyon, MN."
