Marshall O. "Doc" Pitcher

"To the family of MO and all that loved him, I have had a series of mentors, but possibly my greatest was Dr. Pitcher. His influence and advice were some of the most impacting in the shaping of my career and the professional path I chose. While my personal, near daily, contact (I worked for him) ended some 34 years ago, I still tell stories about our times together. I still laugh when telling friends stories of watching baseball and drinking beer together on a summer Saturday afternoon (just one example). MO´s ability to improvise in any situation impresses me to this day. I am saddened to hear the news of the passing of this great man. At the same time, I realize I was blessed to have had the privilege of knowing him and being "under his wing". I also know there are others like me that MO mentored. "We do not know Doc too well. But he was a resident of Clover Ridge Place, where my mother, Bea Nelson, also resides. They had a lot of good times. Dinner was always more entertaining when Doc was there. We are so very sorry for loss. Doc was one of a kind. He will be sorely missed."

While I held his professional skills in the highest regard, he also imparted on me a sense of balance in life and responsibility to others. It was a real blessing to have him in our lives."

"I am so sorry to hear of Doc's passing. I used to volunteer with Gay Storlie when we took the clients out for meals. I had the honor of going along so many times with both Doc and his wife. He came to our farm several times and one time in particular he came to geld a horse for me. He encouraged me to watch and told me when he was done that he heard from my Dad that the horse was giving me issues. He said go cut a plum switch and climb on that horse and teach him what was what. I did and never looked back. He was gentle and strong both with a great love for his patients. He will be missed. Prayers for all of his family."
