Donald L. Bloom, 78, of Fort Dodge passed away May 25, 2014 at his winter home in Port Richey, Florida.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donald will be greatly missed by his wife, Donna; children, Christine Hinkildey of Okoboji; Scott Bloom of Okoboji; grandson, Tyler Hinkildey of Lone Tree, CO; siblings, Richard (Francesca); Sylvia (Brad) Bork of Sperry, IA; Mary (Bob) Seger; Thomas all of Fort Dodge; Theresa (Roger) McClelland of Lampe, MO; Patty (Keith) Thilges of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Cathy Ulstad of Humboldt and brother-in-law, Arnie Ulstad of Davenport, WA;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Mildred (Krahmer) Bloom; sister, Barbara Dewey; brother, Michael Bloom; brother-in-law, Ron Ulstad; and nephew, Louis "Chip" Copenhaver.
Donald was born January 10, 1936 in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Community Schools. In March of 1966 Don was united in marriage to Donna Rae Ulstad. Donald worked for Orkin before starting his own pest control business, "Don's Pest Control" in July of 1971. His business spanned from the Des Moines area all the way to the Iowa Great Lakes. Donald and Donna spent their winters in Port Richey, Florida for the past 20 years. Donald was an avid fisherman with many great stories to tell.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
