Duane G. Richter
October 9, 1954 - November 19, 2013

Duane Gregory Richter, 59, of Bancroft, passed away peacefully at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, after a 2 year courageous battle with cancer.

Duane, the son of Edward and Luella (Augustine) Richter was born on October 9, 1954, and was raised in Bancroft. He graduated from St. John's Catholic High School in Bancroft in 1972, and then attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg where he received his degree in feed and fertilizer.

Duane worked for Quad County Farm Service for 19 years located in Burt and Swea City. In 1995, he began working as location manager for Stateline Cooperative in Ledyard. He was instrumental in establishing the new grain facility located in Blue Earth, MN. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, the San Francisco 49ers, NASCAR, and crop checking with area farmers.

Duane is survived by brothers, Jay (Mary) Richter and Bob (Deb) Richter from Bancroft, and sisters, Betty Hawkes from Marshalltown, Mary (Larry) Hellman from Burt, and Ruth (Bill) Foth from Glendale, AZ; a sister-in-law, Terese Richter of Bancroft; 19 nieces and nephews; and 5 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his father, Edward on February 26, 2002; his mother, Luella on October 27, 2011; and his brother Dave on December 27, 2010.

Memorials may be directed to the Mercy Cancer Center in Mason City, in memory of Duane Richter.

He gave a young punk kid out of college that thought he knew it all his first job. Everyone knows how it is when your young. You hired me to my first real job and for that i'll always be grateful. You where a great manager at Ledyard for many years and more than that a friend!!
