Della Morriss, 83, of Clare, passed away Monday September 2, 2013 at her home. Della's wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned at this time. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.
Della is survived by her son, D. Phillip of Clare; daughters, Becky Morriss of Dayton; Lisa Sebring of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Alma (Santee) Manning; husband, Donald and daughter, Debbie.
Della Mae Manning was born December 14, 1929 in Rockwell City. She attended school in Rockwell City and graduated from Rockwell City High School. In 1949 she was united in marriage to Donald Morriss and the couple established their home on a farm near Lanesbough. In 1963 the family moved to the Clare area. Besides being a homemaker, Della and Don owned and operated the Clare Café for many years. Della also worked as a nurse's aide for Friendship Haven and then was a cook for St. Matthew's School in Clare. Della loved to be outdoors and was proud of her Angel Collection. She will leave behind her beloved dogs, Sam and Bear.
