Fonda Faye Fuglsang was born on January 14, 1929 in Hale, Iowa to Soren and Elsie Pearl (Roden) Fuglsang. She grew up on a farm in rural Lost Nation and rode her horse "Peaches" to school each day prior to her graduation from Lost Nation High School in 1946. In the summer of 1948, she hitchhiked her way to Yellowstone National Park where she worked at the Faithful Inn. On December 18, 1949, she married Larvel Ray Bonney in Olin, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1995.
Fonda first worked for the Sabula Fishing Tackle Company. She then began a 30 year career with the Maquoketa Schools, originally as a cook, then as head cook and lastly as a school bus driver.
Fonda was a member of the Iron Hill Garden Club. She liked plants and gardening, camping, river boats, traveling, cards and games, crafts and decorating, and playing music keyboards. She loved animals and always had pets, including her favorite dog, "Bart", and her parrot "Jerry".
Those left to honor Fonda's memory include her sons, Merrill (Margaret) Bonney of Maquoketa, IA, and William "Bill" (Sherry) Bonney of Maquoketa, IA; a sister, Ruby Mohr of Clarence, IA; 2 grandchildren, Maranda and Marlena; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Jaylyn and Irelyn.
