Janice M. Flattery, 87 of West Des Moines, formally of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday August 21, 2013 at Fountain West Health Care Center in West Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday August 26, 2013 in the chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. A visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday with a C.D. of A. Rosary at 4:30 PM.
Janice is survived by her sister, Mary Flattery of York, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Avis (Moore) Flattery; and her brothers Robert and William Flattery
Janice M. Flattery was born on October 20, 1925 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1943. Janice worked in the office for Royal Four Hundred Oil Company for 14 years, and then for five years for Fort Dodge Labs. Janice then spent 28 years working for First Federal Bank in Fort Dodge in book keeping until retiring in 1990. She is a member of Sacred Heart Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and served as the director of Sacred Heart Church. For several years she was a member of the Business Girls with the YWCA, belonged to the Delta Theta Chi Sorority and the American Business Women Association.
