Arnold Barta, of Antigo, died on January 2, 2024 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 88 years old. He was born on August 28, 1935 in Neva, a son of Rudy and Mary (Gregurich) Barta. He married Darlene Lenzner on June 13, 1964 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo.
Arnie was a truck driver for the Langlade County Highway Department having retired in 2000.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, Molly B polka music, country music, and line dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a daughter, Karen (Mark) Sveda of Deerbrook; a son-in-law, Sparky Bacon of Wausau; three grandchildren, Matthew Sveda, Kody Sveda, and Cecil Bacon; a brother, Rodney (Sally) Barta of Oconto; niece, Danielle (Mark) Cernohous of Hudson; and great-niece and nephews, Ada, Sawyer and Finley Cernohous.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Bacon.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Neva.
