ificant contributions, serving two terms on the Carson-Macedonia School Board, an impressive 14-year tenure on the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors, five terms in the Iowa House, and four terms in the Senate. Hubert took great pride in maintaining an undefeated election record, showcasing an unwavering dedication to the people of Iowa. Hubert was a dedicated member of the Farm Bureau, also served on the SIRE board, and actively participated in various committees within the Legislature, further exemplifying his commitment to public service. Those who knew and loved Hubert recognize he could never let a good project go to waste. You would find them referenced on his To-Do Lists found on his various legal pads throughout the house. Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Marilynn, his in-laws Carl and Aretta Ackerman, and nephew Scott Houser. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Paula; children Leslie Poynter, Grant Houser, and Devin (Kami) Houser; step-children Kim Carlin, Cyndy (Marty) Deal, and Martin (Holly) Mortensen; four brothers, Darrell (Marsha) Houser, Kent (Marlene) Houser, Melvyn (LaRue) Houser, and Lewis (Joan) Houser. Hubert's legacy lives on through his 12 grandchildren, Richard (Heather) Poynter, Chalsea (Dana) Clemmons, Jaclynn (Frank) Johnson, Rachelle (Bobby) Edwards, Katie (Walker) Wilson, Melissa Anderson, Mindy Helbling, Nicholas & Nathan Mortensen, Haley Deal, Jakob & Allie Houser; 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by all who love him.
