Walter Julian Nelsen, 93, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. He was born October 25, 1925, in Hampton, to Julian and Blanche (Hansen) Nelsen.
Walter graduated from Hampton Schools. He was united in marriage to Matilda Kracht on April 20, 1947, in Hampton. Walter was a farmer and lived on the farm west of Hampton for 70 years before moving to town. He retired in 1991, but worked at Farmers Co-op for a few years after retirement. Walter was on several church boards throughout the years and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. He was also President of the Coulter Creamery Board, President of D.H.I.A., member of A.S.C. Committee Board and a member of R.E.C. board for 17 years. Walter enjoyed bowling in the winter and golfing in the summer at Latimer Golf Club, as well as playing cards with his friends and family.
Walter is survived by his wife Matilda Nelsen of Hampton, son Roger Nelsen of Hampton, grandchildren Robert (Cari) Nelsen, Steven Nelsen, Christy (Casey) Waddell, Stacey (Dale) Raisch and nine great-grandchildren.
