Mable passed away early Saturday morning, May 18, 2019 at the Elm Heights Care Center.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Rose Hill Cemetery. There will be open visitation on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
On May 14, 1929 in Fremont County, Iowa, a daughter Mable Maxine was born to Roy and Leta (McMurty) Smith. Mable entered into eternal peace on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Mable's early years were spent in the communities of Nebraska City, Hamburg, Percival and Shenandoah. In 1953 Mable was united in marriage to Darrell Bartles, The couple made their home in Shenandoah. She worked for Lakes Nursery, DHS, Job Service and West Central until her retirement.
Some of her hobbies and interests included watching birds, squirrels and deer. She also enjoyed baking and cooking. She even won first place in a local pie bake off. Christmas was her favorite. She would often be found in the kitchen baking cookies and making candy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Darrell on August 29, 1993, her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother...[more]
nd an infant son. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Maxine Hamilton and her husband Larry; son Donald Bartles; 2 step-daughters, 1 step-son; 3 grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
