Harold E. Patten, age 92, of Council Bluffs, passed away April 17, 2019 at Risen Son Christian Village. Harold was born February 2, 1927 in Panama, Iowa to the late Stephen and Johanna (Coenen) Patten. He graduated from St. Boniface High School, Westphalia, Iowa in 1945. Harold proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Mary Lou Wehr on October 4, 1948 in Westphalia. They were blessed with son, Larry. Harold worked for 30+ years for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as budget manager. He was an active member of Corpus Christi-Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church; former choir member; Knights of Columbus, 1st Degree; NARFE and Oldtimers Baseball Association. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers, Linus, Emil and Anthony Patten; sisters, Regina Gessert, Kathryn Frieze, Rosemary Michalski, Corsina Sterzinger and Gladys Michalski. Harold is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Patten; son, Larry (Robin) Patten, all of Council Bluffs; 3 grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Patten, Dave Patten, Jill (Derek) Petersen; 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
