ran Church in Thornton. The couple lived in Manly until 1965, then purchased their homestead south of Swaledale. After many years of marriage, Tootie and Daryl became parents to two eagerly anticipated and much-loved children, Michael and Pamela. Life on the farm was full and rich and included many tasks that Tootie managed to balance beautifully. She spent her days making a home for her family, tending to their large yard, and supporting Daryl in his farming operation. Her ability to whip together delicious meals for large groups of hungry farm workers, often on-the-go, was jokingly referred to as her "Meals on Wheels" mission. Tootie was actively involved in her children's lives, serving during their school years as room mother and head cheerleader for their numerous activities and events. She relished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother and especially treasured the special bond she shared with her siblings. Their regular gatherings for coffee and laughter were the source of much joy. As a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thornton, Tootie was a dedicated and tireless servant. Over the years she helped to organize and cook countless church suppers and funeral luncheons and quietly managed many details within the church to help facilitate its smooth operation. Tootie was a founding member and active participant of SAL - Swaledale Area Ladies. She helped with its concession stand at the local ball diamond and worked the bratwurst stand at Swaledale Big Days for many years to raise funds to fill the town flower pots and finance school scholarships. Tootie enjoyed the company and camaraderie of many friends in the Swaledale Coffee Club, and in earlier years was a member of Thornton Lioness. Left to cherish Tootie's memory are her husband of nearly 60 years, Daryl; two children, Mike (Beth) Buchholtz of Marengo, and Pam (Dan) Goodyear of Monticello; eight grandchildren, Brett Walker, Dylan (Haley) Buchholtz, Bridget Gaffney, Levi, Jake, and Zada Buchholtz, and Olivia Mae and Gabriel Tice Goodyear; and four great-grandchildren, Tatum, Keegan, Remington, and Jaxson.
