He helped his father in the blacksmith shop and invented an adjustable wrench along with the sweet potato vine cutter. He enjoyed building and repairing the sweet potato vine cutter for the farmers on the Island. He loved the Mississippi River. He always considered himself a 'River Rat' and, in his later years, asked if he was 'straight with the river'. He celebrated his 100th birthday by putting his feet in the Mississippi River. Charles and his wife traveled a lot. He loved playing cards and going to the casino boats. Charles is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Goddard, of Muscatine, Deloris Rhodes, of Rockford, Illinois, and Nancy Burzell, of Wisconsin; 19 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and one great great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Oscar M. Seright; and two daughters, Dorothy Ann Potter and Esther Goddard.
