Ruth Norton, 87, Mt. Union, died Friday, July 20, 2018 at Great River Medical Center. She was born December 5, 1930 in Fairfield to Harold "Mac" and Gladys Barnett McNeese. On February 28, 1948 she married Max Duayne Norton.
She attended Fairfield schools. Mrs. Norton was a farm wife and worked seasonally at Sylvania, Metromail, and Pioneer Seed. She was a member of LT Club, TTT, Linger Longer, and Night Owls Camp Group. She loved refinishing furniture and woodworking; and enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Max; two daughters, Linda (Jim) Brauers, Aledo, IL., and Robin Bartmann, Washington, IA; one son, Ron (Joyce) Norton, West Point; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Karol Leazer, Ft. Collins, CO., and Karen Phillips, Fairfield; one brother, Raymond (Tish) McNeese, West Burlington; and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck McNeese and son-in-law, Jeff Bartmann.
