hicago where she lived and worked until her marriage to Mel G. Foley on May 13, 1946.
Jane was a Reach to Recovery volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over ten years calling on mastectomy patients at both hospitals here in Mason City. She was also one of the original Birthright volunteers when the local Birthright Center opened in October 1974. She was the Director of this Center for many years.
Among her many hobbies and interests were photography, travel, baking (especially cookies and pies), reading, drawing, and collecting boxes and dog figurines. She loved to dance and sing and tell jokes. Jane was proud of her Irish ancestry and she and her family enjoyed several trips to Ireland. Jane was known for her long memory and also her sense of humor. She enjoyed and was very proud of her granddaughter and her family.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Circle at Holy Family Church where she sang with the funeral choir since 1980. She was a longtime member of Athenian Study Club.
Survivors include two sons, Greg K. Foley, and James K. Foley and his wife Rita, all of Mason City; a granddaughter, Kristi Skinner and her husband Michael and their sons Charlie, Ben, and Will of Ruxton, Maryland; sister-in-law Julie M. McManus of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as 17 nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Foley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mel, her sister Catherine Wenzel and husband Clarence, and two brothers, Thomas James and William J. McManus. She was also preceded by brother-in-law Francis Foley and wife Helena, and sisters-in-law Edna and Genevieve Foley.
