Leo Forrest Herbert, age 84, passed away April 17, 2018, at CHI-Mercy Hospital. Leo was born on January 28, 1934, was raised in Macedonia, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. Leo proudly served his country in the US Navy for four years and was united in marriage to Alyce Williams on September 28, 1957. Leo's working career included Schildberg Company, serving as Deputy Sheriff in Corning Iowa, and retiring from the Iowa Department of Transportation as a Supervisor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Blanche Herbert; son, Craig Leo Herbert; sisters, Elizabeth Herbert, Agnes Nyquist and Louise Voss; brothers, Michael, Earl and Martin Herbert. Survivors include his wife of 60 plus years, Alyce; daughter, RoxAnn "Sis" (Steve) Doebelin all Council Bluffs; sons, Scott of Omaha and Lance (Mary) of Council Bluffs; daughter-in-law, Jill Herbert of Carson, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jolene, Jeri (Dawn), Brandon and Amber; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Hooker of Grand Island, Neb.; sister-in-law, Beverly Herbert of Council Bluffs, nieces and nephews.
