nita Villarreal (Rodriguez) and they moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois. He lived there for 48 years and worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He graduated from Prairie State College in 1976. He was a career college student always taking classes in everything he was interested in. He recently returned to Texas and lived in Corpus Christi. He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing, He would travel to Ontario every year to hunt large game and fish. He loved cooking and trying new recipes, was an avid organic gardener, loved reading and loved his dogs who never left his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sulema Martinez and brother Rene Villarreal.
He is survived by his former wife, Anita Villarreal; his daughter, Olga (Matt) Villarreal-Alter. Also surviving are his brother, Rey (Santos) Villarreal; and sisters, Lydia Gonzalez, Frances Ojeda, Sarah (David) Rodriguez, Olga Rosales, Carol (Hector) Salinas and Diana Villalpando.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 from 3pm to 9pm, with a Rosary at 7pm at Highland Funeral Home in Weslaco. Visitation will also be on Saturday January 20, 2018 starting at 9am. A Catholic service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2pm in the chapel at Highland Funeral Home in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
