ngineer, he literally bumped into Georgia Eliopulos, a secretary working for 90 engineers. When this chance meeting occurred, he exclaimed, "Oh pardon me." Georgia, a naive young Greek woman from a small Ohio town, replied, "Where are you from?" When she heard his reply, "Brazil," she knew that he was "the one" as she dreamed of marrying a handsome South American man with dark hair and an olive complexion, and he was definitely her type. They married 6 months later on June 22, 1946 and honeymooned in Virginia Beach. Carlos and Georgia settled in Springfield, Ohio, where they began their family. They raised their four daughters in Miami, Florida: Quiquita, Diana, Monica, and Valentina. He was proud of his 9 grandchildren, Eric, Melinda, Alexandria, Nickolas, Andrew, Daphne, Lucas, Alexander, and Olivia who he nicknamed "Pink Lady". Carlos was blessed with 6 great-grandsons: Petros and Felipe Georgiadis, Ariston and Leonidas Spanos, Wolfgang Barcelona, and Jonas Robert Davies. He enjoyed his large, multicultural family and joked that he was in the "import-export" business. Carlos and Georgia were very blessed with the fruitage of their 71 year marriage! Carlos had a passion for aviation and travel. He was proud of the trip he made around the world in 2 weeks. He took his family to Brazil on multiple occasions to meet his large family in Rio de Janeiro. He was "Tio Carlinhos" to his many nieces and nephews in Rio. His other interests included politics, geography, and math. The moment he met someone he would begin his quiz on world capitals, trigonometry, and his beloved ancient Greek mathematician, Pythagoras! Although Carlos did not share the same religious beliefs as his wife and daughters, he never prevented his family from pursuing their faith as Jehovah's Witnesses. He occasionally attended the Kingdom Hall with his family for special meetings, but he left the spiritual training of the children to Georgia.
