urned to Iowa in 1990 and met Joe Ryan in 1994. They married two years later and lived life abundantly, sharing their love for family, friends, politics, travel, and lake activities. The two blended their families and shared a beautiful life for the next 22 years. In each town where Madonna lived, she was deeply invested and involved in the community- from teaching kindergarten and organizing local committees, groups, and drives to chairing political campaigns and serving on numerous state boards, including the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, the Terrace Hill Commission, and most recently the Judicial Nominating Commission. Madonna had an endless capacity for kindness and generosity and was happiest when she could make a difference in someone's life - whether for many or just one at a time. Those left to honor Madonna's memory include: her two daughters Jane M. Skogstrom (Michael Sipe) of Minneapolis, MN and Joan L. Skogstrom (Philip Pitzen) of Des Moines, IA; by her four grandchildren Jessica Ruth (Alan), Susan Pitzen, John Sipe, and Jacob WS Kuyper; by her three great grandchildren Sydney, Benjamin and Isabella Ruth; and by her siblings Marilyn Andreasen and John T. McGuire, II. Preceding Madonna in death was her beloved husband Joseph B. Ryan and siblings Marion Will and Doris Potter. In honor of Madonna and in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the MMR Memorial Fund (MMR Memorial Fund, 201 East McGregor Street, Apt. 4, Algona, IA 50511).
