Monica Huelman Zaruba, 40, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2200 2nd Ave., Vinton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton with Fr. Mark Ressler as Celebrant. You are invited to lunch and fellowship after the funeral Mass. Monica Amber was born October 14, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Ken and Regina Huelman. She grew up and attended Vinton-Shellsburg schools, graduating in 1996. Monica attended Iowa State University in Ames and played on the women's basketball team from 1996-2000. She earned a degree in horticulture. She was currently employed by Country Landscapes in Ames and North Liberty. She married Terry Zaruba on July 30, 2011.
